(KRON) — Two San Jose men and four minors were arrested following a flurry of alleged crimes across Santa Cruz on Saturday, according to police. Collectively, the six individuals are accused of felony counts of hit-and-run, evading, DUI, vehicle theft, child endangerment, conspiracy to commit a crime, and resisting arrest.
The incident began just after 4 p.m. Saturday when the Santa Cruz Police Department received multiple 911 calls about the driver of a 2015 Mercedes SUV colliding with other vehicles. The occupants were also reported to be “engaging in dangerous behaviors towards individuals at various locations throughout the City of Santa Cruz,” authorities wrote.
A Santa Cruz PD officer located the suspects in the vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen out of San Jose, in the 1700 block of Mission Street and attempted to stop them. The suspect driver rammed the officer’s patrol vehicle, causing moderate injuries to the officer, SCPD said.
