Injured San Jose man had to crawl Mt. Shasta all night for safety

First, the man hiking the Avalanche Gulch route successfully reached the summit of Mt. Shasta just minutes before sunset on Thursday, Sept. 10. Then he lost control coming down the mountain, sliding at least 500 feet.

After that, his cell phone ran out of power and died.

Friends of the hiker reported the San Jose man missing the next day, after they were unable to reach him, the sheriff’s office said…
