(KRON) — Following a Nvidia artificial intelligence data scientist and researcher’s mysterious death in Palo Alto, his family is urging state and local authorities to dig for more clues to answer unsolved questions.
Irfan Al-Hussaini’s family are questioning cause of death findings from the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled his death as a suicide. Family members and their attorney said circumstances surrounding his passing are suspicious.
Al-Hussaini worked for Nvidia, headquartered in Santa Clara. He was found unconscious in his Palo Alto apartment on July 22, someone called 911 at 10:22 a.m., and he was transported to a hospital, according to the petition. The AI senior data scientist died eight days later, on July 30. He was 32 years old.
His parents, sister, and the family’s attorney will gather outside Palo Alto City Hall Thursday to release new information about the case. The family is seeking an independent medical examiner to review forensic evidence. More than 14,000 supporters have signed a Change.org petition seeking a thorough investigation.
