Motorcyclist Killed Hitting Wall on Highway 17 Offramp in San Jose

A motorcyclist was killed Monday morning after crashing into a wall on the Hamilton Avenue exit off northbound Highway 17 in San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log. The crash happened around 9:15 a.m., and responding units found the rider lying on the right-hand shoulder before requesting an ambulance to the scene. Despite lifesaving efforts, the motorcyclist did not survive.

The collision was also covered by KRON4. The outlet also noted that the Highway 17 death was not an isolated tragedy that morning — a driver was also killed Monday in a separate collision on northbound Interstate 280 near Highway 87, marking a second San Jose freeway death within hours.

A Separate Fatal Crash

A separate fatal motorcycle collision occurred Sunday, October 4, at McKean and Almaden roads, marking the city’s 38th traffic-related fatality of the year, a case detailed in a separate Hoodline report. The incidents occurred in different settings: the McKean and Almaden roads collision was on city streets, while the Highway 17 crash was on an offramp.

As is standard practice, neither victim’s identity had been released at the scene. Local law enforcement agencies typically withhold names until family contact.
