Devastating house fire displaces two people; Dogs at home perish, firefighters say

A somber morning unfolded today as the Alameda County Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the 35000 block of Severn Drive in Newark.

At 9:22 AM, ACFD crews swiftly arrived at the scene, battling the blaze that tragically led to the displacement of two individuals and the heartbreaking loss of one of their two dogs.

Despite the firefighters’ prompt and determined efforts, one of the pets could not be revived, the fire department said.

The fire response teams successfully ensured the safety of the community and reported no injuries to firefighters or nearby residents.

However, the residential fire resulted in the displacement of two individuals, firefighters added.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damages are under investigation by ACFD officials.
