Menlo Park man arrested on $1.2M human trafficking warrant

( KRON ) — On Friday, a Menlo Park man was arrested by the Monterey Police Department on human trafficking charges and for carrying an unregistered loaded gun.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., police agents from the U.S. Marshals Service were conducting surveillance on the suspect in North Fremont Street. Police said surveillance was to find a man with an outstanding $1.2 million arrest warrant out of Manteca for human trafficking.

While driving by a hotel on North Fremont St., police were able to identify Hakeen Mackey, 27, of Menlo Park, in the hotel’s parking lot and took him into custody.

Investigations revealed Mackey was involved in human trafficking and was in possession of a loaded firearm (pictured below).

Mackey was later transported and booked into the Monterey County Jail for the original $1.2 million arrest warrant for human trafficking, possession of a loaded, unregistered handgun, and pimping. A bail enhancement was later set at $500,000.
