MONTECITO, Calif. (KEYT) – Westmont Observatory is opening to the public as a near-total lunar eclipse unfolds over the Santa Barbara area Thursday night.
Nearly all of the moon will slip into Earth’s shadow as the eclipse reaches about 96 percent coverage.
The moon could take on a deep red color as Earth blocks much of the sunlight normally reaching the lunar surface. The peak of the eclipse is expected to occur at 9:13 p.m. Pacific Time…
