Petaluma man launched firework at neighbor’s home, video shows: PD

(KRON) — A Petaluma man faces several felony charges after he intentionally launched a mortar-style firework toward a neighbor’s home last weekend after an ongoing dispute, according to police. The incident was caught on home surveillance video and provided to investigators.

The Petaluma Police Department said officers responded on Sunday, June 28 to the 1700 block of Colwood Drive.

“Earlier that day, the suspect had allegedly threatened the victim,” said PPD in a social media post on Wednesday. “The firework struck the roof of the residence and burned the area down to the insulation, causing an estimated $1000+ of damage.”

Police said the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Ben Shein, was uncooperative at first, but later turned himself in. Shein was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including suspicion of felony threats, felony arson, and felony vandalism.
