Petaluma Police are reminding drivers to leave their pets at home after rescuing a dog from a hot vehicle over the weekend.
According to the Petaluma Argus-Courier, officers responded to a call from a concerned community member and safely removed a dog named Benny from a parked car.
Inside the vehicle, animal control officers used a heat gun to find temperatures had reached 95 degrees, despite it being a mild 74 degrees outside. Police warn that cracking the windows does little to slow down the heat, which can rise to life-threatening levels in just minutes…
