(KRON) — A cat reported loose on southbound Highway 101 in Marin County had “quite the dangerous joyride” Wednesday evening, according to Marin Humane.
16 puppies found in Livermore Walmart parking lot in need of homes
Marin Humane said California Highway Patrol Marin Area officers responded to the incident. One officer conducted a traffic break while another safely scooped up the cat, named Artie, from a median. Artie was brought immediately to Marin Humane, where staff determined he was suffering only from road rash.
So how did the 14-year-old Artie end up there in the first place?
“Our Animal Services team called the number connected to kitty’s chip and reached his very worried family,” Marin Humane said in a social media post Friday. “Artie had gone missing earlier that day from their home in Vallejo and they were astonished to discover he’d made it all the way to Novato! They believe he climbed into the wheel well of their next-door neighbor’s truck, who drove to Marin about an hour before he was found.”
Artie was reunited with his family the next day, when they picked him up at the shelter.
