Suspect in Killing and Burying of Windsor Man Tries to Withdraw his Plea

A Santa Rosa man is trying to withdraw his no-contest plea in the killing of a Windsor man found buried in 2022. Juan Antonio Martinez was supposed to be sentenced yesterday for one count each of murder and posing as a kidnapper to commit extortion. Instead, he is attempting to withdraw his no-contest plea related to the killing of Deydhy Jordy Silverio Castro causing the sentencing hearing to be rescheduled. The 35-year-old Martinez reportedly went out with Castro in June 2022 to buy a car. Martinez fatally shot Castro and buried him in Forestville. Prosecutors say Martinez later called Castro’s wife in a disguised voice and demanded a ransom.
