Santa Rosa Man Arrested After Police Chase Across the City

A man from Santa Rosa is facing charges after allegedly leading Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies on a car chase. Fifty-four-year-old Roy Jones Jr. was charged with several crimes on Wednesday, including evading police with disregard to public safety, evading police and driving against traffic, and obstructing police. Deputies tried to pull Jones over late Monday night, after they spotted him driving without a license plate. He is accused of speeding, blowing through stoplights and stop signs and driving on the wrong side of the road in northwest Santa Rosa and Montgomery Village. Jones, who had nine arrest warrants, allegedly ran away after the pursuit ended and fought with deputies before his arrest. He is due in court tomorrow.
