Santa Rosa Teen’s Alleged Joyride in Stolen Car Ends in Sonoma Smashup

A 15-year-old from Santa Rosa was arrested in Sonoma last Saturday after what police describe as a brief chase that ended with a crash into a parked car near First Street East and Blue Wing Drive.

Officers were first called to a gas station on the 600 block of Broadway, where they tried to contact the driver. Instead, police say the teen sped off north toward the Sonoma Plaza before losing control and hitting the parked vehicle. No injuries were reported, and deputies detained the teen at the scene.

Investigators later confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen and appeared to be operated without a key, with visible damage to the ignition, according to The Press Democrat. The outlet also reported that officers found items inside the car that raised suspicions about possible burglary-related activity.
