Manatee County receives grant as part of opioid fight

BRADENTON, Fla. — Manatee County has received $500,000 from the Florida Department of Children and Families after being recognized as Florida’s top-performing county for reducing opioid-caused deaths, county officials said this week.

DCF said opioid-caused deaths in the county decreased 56% from 2023 to 2024.
