FHP, Manatee deputies issue 137 citations in I-75 traffic operation

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies issued 137 citations and 43 warnings during a joint traffic enforcement operation on Interstate 75, according to a news release.

The four-hour initiative took place Aug. 6 and focused on speeding, aggressive driving, Move Over Law violations and other hazardous traffic offenses.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office traffic deputies issued 81 citations and 22 warnings. Nearly 80% of the citations involved speeding or violations that officials said put motorists and first responders at risk.

Deputies issued 48 speeding citations, 15 Move Over Law citations and one Super Speeder citation. Additional citations included three for driving with a suspended license, four for expired registration, four for window tint violations, four for no proof of insurance, one left-lane violation and one for no driver license.

Florida Highway Patrol conducted 67 traffic stops, issuing 56 citations and 21 warnings. Troopers focused on speeding, Move Over Law violations, driving with a suspended license, seat belt violations, following too closely and proof-of-insurance violations…
