Cops: Woman taken from water under Baker Act

VENICE — A woman acting erratically and making threatening statements while in the water at Service Club Park on Wednesday, Aug. 12 was reached and taken for an involuntary health evaluation under Florida’s Baker Act, according to authorities.

Venice Police were first alerted when it received reports from the public of her at Service Club Park, according to a Venice Police Department social media post.

“Officers located her offshore in neck-deep water, where she refused repeated instructions from first responders to return to shore,” the post stated…
