LONGBOAT KEY, Fla. (WWSB) – Fire crews responded Tuesday morning to a vehicle fire in the garage at Zota Beach Resort, located under the resort’s restaurant, prompting an evacuation of the building.
The call came in just after 10 a.m. as a two-alarm fire. Longboat Key firefighters arrived within about four minutes, and Sarasota County crews backed them up. The fire was out by around 10:30 a.m.
The vehicle involved was a cleaning van. Crews had been cleaning rugs on the fourth floor when something happened with the truck, according to Longboat Key Fire Chief Paul Dezzi. The cause remains under investigation…
