VENICE — The widening of Laurel Road — an idea that dates back at least to 2020 — has been pushed back so it can be rebid.
Developer Pat Neal pitched the idea of widening the road to four lanes, with other improvements, to the Venice City Council more than six years ago, proposing it be done in a public-private partnership that would accomplish it quicker and cheaper than Sarasota County could.
