VENICE — Anyone with an idea for an affordable housing project in the city will need to find private property to build it on.
A July 16 memo from Planning and Zoning Director Roger Clark regarding an updated inventory of city real property states that the prior inventory, prepared in 2023, has been reviewed by staff, which determined that “there are still no properties that do not have an active use, that would be appropriate for affordable housing.”
The updated inventory lists 89 properties, including City Hall, the fire and police stations, the airport and all the parks, even including pocket parks. Six properties, totaling about 22 acres, are labeled “undeveloped.”…
