SARASOTA, Fla. – A routine traffic stop late Sunday night ended with two convicted felons facing new weapons charges after officers recovered loaded handguns and drugs, the Sarasota Police Department reported.
Davion Baker, 22, and Sylvester Sanders, 24, both of Sarasota, were arrested on the night of Sept. 15. Each faces a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted Florida felon.
According to police, officers pulled over a car around 10 p.m. on North Tamiami Trail, just north of General Spaatz Boulevard. Officers recognized the vehicle from past interactions and knew its license plate had an active financial suspension. Police also noted the vehicle had no listed insurance on file…
