VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) – Frustration over the closed South Jetty boiled over at a Venice City Council meeting Tuesday, with residents pressing for progress and communication nearly two years after Hurricanes Helene and Milton damaged the area.
The South Jetty is located in the 2000 block of Tarpon Center Drive in Venice, near the Nokomis Public Beach area. It has remained closed since sustaining heavy damage during the 2024 hurricane season.
Residents packed Venice City Hall on Tuesday to ask when and how they will regain access to the shoreline, which they say has been part of their community for generations…
