Venice Council to consider PUD amendment proposal

VENICE — The City Council will revisit the issue of amending a planned unit development next week, when it will hear a presentation by special counsel Alison Yurko and Planning and Zoning Director Roger Clark.

Yurko was hired to suggest options for a PUD amendment process because the land-use rules the city adopted two years ago didn’t have one.

The issue became a point of dispute during consideration of a rezoning in North Venice sought by developer Pat Neal in order to build a shopping center.

Yurko’s recommendation is to classify proposed amendments as either major or minor. The stage of development at which the amendment request is made would determine what’s required to show unified control to have the authority to apply for it.
