PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) – Big hair, bold fashion and even bigger community support filled the room Saturday night at the Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa, as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County celebrated its 80th Anniversary Gala: “Back to the 80’s.” Organizers say the sold-out event raised a record $500,000 to support local kids and expand Club programs.
ABC 7 anchor Summer Smith emceed the celebration, led by Gala Co-Chairs Caleb and Michele Grimes, honoring eight decades of service while spotlighting the next generation of leaders the Clubs are helping shape.
The program featured powerful moments led by Club members, including an 80th anniversary reflection video and remarks from Youth of the Year honorees.
