SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -Extreme drought continues over much of the area but some much needed rainfall on the way.

Temperatures warmed to the low 90s today. The high today at the Sarasota/Bradenton airport reached 93 degrees setting a new record high for the date.
Tuesday forecast
Temperatures warmed to the low 90s today. The high today at the Sarasota/Bradenton airport reached 93 degrees setting a new record high for the date. Winds will shift to the east and northeast Tuesday, with a sea breeze developing around 2 to 3 p.m. near the coast. Morning temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s, warming to the low to mid-80s near the beaches. Inland areas will be warmer with highs near 90 degrees.
Wednesday will bring slightly warmer temperatures inland as a high-pressure ridge remains over the northeast Gulf coast. Humidity will be on the rise however near the coast and it will feel warmer.
Weekend outlook
A cold front will move through the area Sunday, bringing a chance for showers and possibly a few thunderstorms Sunday and into Monday. The front is not expected to bring much cooling but look for some drier air settling in.
Boating conditions will be light Tuesday with just a moderate chops but advisories could be issued over the weekend with breezier conditions expected…
