ANNA MARIA ISLAND, Fla. (WWSB) — The Anna Maria Island pier is being rebuilt for the sixth time, with construction designed to withstand future storms after hurricanes Helene and Milton destroyed the structure in 2024.
The pier has required major repairs or reconstruction in 1921, 1935, 1974, 1988, and 2017. The city rebuilt it in 2020, only to see it destroyed four years later.
