Hot stretch continues with only the hope for a few weekend storms

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Today starts warm and mostly sunny, with morning temperatures quickly climbing through the 70s and into the upper 80s by midday. Winds turn onshore from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph, helping push highs into the mid to upper 80s near the coast and to lower to mid 90s inland. Humidity will start to increase a bit, but no rain is expected through the day.

Tonight remains partly cloudy and warm, with lows in the lower to mid 70s. Light west winds ease overnight. On Friday, heat continues with highs near 90 and a light west breeze. Moisture continues to creep back in, and by late afternoon into the evening a few isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop, though many areas stay dry.

Over the weekend, expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs holding near 90 each day. Scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms become a bit more common, especially inland and north of the immediate coast.
