Bradenton man gets seven years in prison for assault, cruelty to animals

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A Bradenton man was sentenced to seven years in prison after he assaulted a woman, threatened her with a gun and threw her cat from a fourth-floor balcony, the state attorney’s office said Tuesday.

Daniel Rivera was convicted of criminal mischief, cruelty to animals, felony battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with a witness.

Prosecutors say Rivera was at the woman’s apartment in Bradenton on June 24, 2025, when they began arguing. Rivers grabbed the woman’s 1-month-old kitten and threw it off the fourth-floor balcony into traffic…
