Savannah runner turns 57-mile challenge into lifeline for rescue dogs

SAVANNAH, Ga. — What started as a personal challenge for one Savannah runner has become a growing effort to support homeless dogs and raise awareness for animal rescue organizations across the Coastal Empire.

After visiting Renegade Paws Rescue and learning about the dogs waiting for homes, local business owner of Cardio Dogs and avid runner Stephen Burr set himself an ambitious goal: run one mile for every dog currently in the shelter’s care.
