SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The historic First African Baptist Church has received a major grant to help restore its landmark building and preserve its legacy as one of the nation’s oldest historically Black congregations.
The $500,000 grant, awarded through the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Preserving Black Churches grant program, will primarily support the restoration of the church’s historic stained-glass windows.
