Savannah, GA (WSAV-TV) — Founded in 1973 on Savannah’s historic waterfront, River Street Sweets is the city’s oldest candy store.Believe it or not, a legacy that began with a family-owned Christmas gift shop and a batch of fudge.Since then, the business has handcrafted more than 150,000 pralines annually. But beyond candy-making, the confectionary has spent more than a decade ensuring thousands of area children receive nutritious meals through Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia‘s Kids Cafe.In this week’s segment of ‘A Dash of That’, our favorite food and cultural journalist, Martina Yvette Allen, takes us inside the shop as the company prepares for National Praline Day.
