Beaufort Co. Sheriff’s Office gearing up to move into building near Coligny Beach, recommends curfew

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has signed a contract for space in the Coligny Beach Plaza and expects to move in within the next two weeks, establishing a new law enforcement footprint in the Coligny area.

In a special meeting on public safety Thursday morning, WTOC learned the sheriff’s office signed the contract on June 1 and will pay $1 per year for the space.

Juvenile curfew recommendation

The Sheriff’s Office is also recommending that the Town of Hilton Head Island adopt a juvenile curfew requiring unaccompanied minors to be off public areas by 8 p.m.

Exceptions would apply for juveniles who are working, facing an emergency, or in other qualifying situations. Juveniles who violate the curfew would be processed through the juvenile court system…
