Detective details Savannah murder case at Suburban Extended Stay in May; Search for shooter is ongoing

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A Chatham County judge found probable cause Tuesday to bind a murder-party to a crime case against Jamir Lewis to a grand jury, following a preliminary hearing.

Jamir Lewis, who participated remotely from the Chatham County Detention Center, is charged with party to the crime of murder in the death of LaShawn Foster, 25.

Detective testimony

The lead investigator testified that on May 31, 2026, around 2:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Suburban Extended Stay on Abercorn Street in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.
