Hardeeville residents rally to fill school buses

August brings the students back to school, and thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Hardeeville community, the families of Jasper County won’t have to worry about school supplies for the coming year.

Hardeeville held it’s annual “Fill the Bus” campaign, and we estimated that the number of items received were doubled that of 2025. To achieve such spectacular results, many people must contribute. Captains from Sun City, Margaritaville, and Hilton Head Lakes rallied their neighborhoods, and a high percentage of the households bought items from a list supplied by the schools. Included on the list were needs in the classrooms for teachers. Tissues, paper towels, white boards, hand sanitizers, staplers, head phones, and copy paper. Everything was unloaded at the Rec Center and a group of volunteers sorted by type for distribution to Hardeeville public schools, Royal Live Oaks Academy Charter School, and Heartwood Charter School.

Jasper County School District supplied buses to drive through neighborhoods and fill the seats with donations. Such a sight only happens once a year in age restricted developments! Thank you, Superintendent Dr. Laura Hickson…
