Since opening last year, Tharros Place has housed nine human trafficking survivors in its Savannah-based 12-bed residential home. Julie Wade, the program’s executive director, said that the nonprofit provides stable housing and educational and emotional support, addressing underlying trauma while cultivating a culture of courage for girls ages 12 to 17.

To discuss trafficking trends in the Savannah area, Tharros Place hosted its Fall Human Trafficking Stakeholder Meeting Wednesday morning, Sept. 18, at the Eckburg Auditorium, 5717 White Bluff Road.

This stakeholder meeting was the sixth of its kind.

The event was sponsored by Delta Air Lines and supported by multiple community partners, including Brightside Child & Family Advocacy, the Department of Justice, The Front Porch, Georgia Legal Services Program, Savannah Pride Center and Tybee Stops Traffick.
