EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is asking for the public’s help in an unsolved murder from 1992, where a Georgia woman was found in Effingham County.
Dean Marie Chambers, who went by Maria Stephens, was found on the shoulder of Old River Road near the I-16 intersection on April 21, 1992, in Effingham County.
She had reportedly been hitchhiking since March 16 from Sheffield, Alabama, to her home in Sardis, Georgia. She was believed to have last been seen on April 12, 1992.
She was last seen wearing white British Knight high-top tennis shoes, blue jeans, a white shirt or a brown Carhartt jacket…
