Beaufort County made the surprise announcement Thursday morning that restroom facilities at the popular Broad River Landing Boat Landing and Fishing Pier will be temporarily closed.
The loss of restroom facilities will be no small inconvenience for anglers who lug fishing gear, chairs and coolers onto the 720-foot-long pier to fish for whiting, drum, sheepshead, shark, stingrays and cobia.
While the fishing pier and boat landing remain open, said Hannah Nichols, a county spokesperson, the restroom facilities will be closed for a week.
