Oglethorpe Mall shooting suspect sentenced to federal prison for firearm

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — One of the six suspects in the Oglethorpe Mall shooting from July 2025 was sentenced to federal prison Friday for possessing an illegal firearm.

Aujawan Hymon, 21, was sentenced to over three years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, along with a $1,200 fine. There is no parole in the federal system.

Hymon pled guilty to illegal possession of a machine gun. Investigators recovered a .40-caliber Glock Model 22, modified with a “Glock switch” to convert to a machine gun from the mall shooting.

Hymon was reportedly already on state probation.

Two other men, Antonio Owens, 30, of Savannah, and Ishaq Williams, 44, of Savannah, were also sentenced for illegal firearm possession…
