OKATIE, S.C. (WSAV) — Officials estimated that around 70,000 gallons of wastewater overflowed in Okatie at the Highway 170 and Bluffton Parkway intersection Wednesday.
The overflow of wastewater began around 6:30 a.m. due to a ruptured force main, a Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority (BJWSA) spokesperson reported. The rupture reportedly occurred due to previous damage.
Crews stopped the overflow by 9 a.m., but an estimated 70,000 gallons spilled in the area…
