Mother passed out from alcohol as toddler sat barely conscious in smoke-filled home, police say

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AZFamily/Gray News) — An Arizona woman got drunk and fell asleep while her home filled with smoke, according to court documents. Her toddler was then found barely conscious inside.

Kallien Heathman’s ex-boyfriend called police after he arrived at the Sierra Street home around 11 p.m. on Aug. 1 and found the 25-year-old woman unconscious on the floor near a couch, with a 2-year-old in a car seat inside the house.

Officers arrived and entered the house. The living room was filled with smoke. Police said the child was barely conscious and not moving. They got the child out of the house first…
