Reggae Rise Up to bring major weekend traffic restrictions to downtown Tempe

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Drivers in downtown Tempe should prepare for significant road closures and traffic restrictions this weekend as Reggae Rise Up Arizona returns to Tempe Beach Park.

The three-day festival runs Friday through Sunday, and Tempe police say several streets in and around the downtown area will be closed or restricted, likely affecting travel throughout the weekend.

According to Tempe police, the following closures and restrictions will be in place:

  • Rio Salado Parkway will be fully closed in both directions from Mill Avenue to Ash Avenue.
  • Rio Salado’s westbound lanes will be closed from the Ash Avenue roundabout to Lakeside Drive; eastbound traffic will remain open.
  • The Mill Avenue southbound bridge will be closed from Curry Road to Rio Salado Parkway, with closures continuing south to 2nd Street.
  • The northbound lane on Ash Avenue will be closed between Rio Salado Parkway and 3rd Street, near the parking garage.

Police also say there will be more traffic restrictions at Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway. All westbound traffic will be required to turn north, and all northbound traffic must turn east. There will be no straight-through traffic at that intersection…
