Seattle restaurant expands its Caribbean menu to Poulsbo location

POULSBO — A popular Seattle restaurant has brought its Caribbean cuisine across Puget Sound by opening in Kitsap County.

Bongos Cafe opened a new location in May, in the College Market Place shops located just south of Olympic College’s Poulsbo campus, west of Highway 3. The casual dining spot got its start 13 years ago in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle, where founders Dan Baird and Kiara Kukes repurposed a 76 gas station, replacing gas pumps with a sandpit and patio furniture to give city-dwellers a laid-back experience of dining on a beach.

The Kitsap location is in a building originally purposed for restaurants, but diners can look forward to the same cozy, made-to-order cuisine like citrus braised pork and jerk spiced chicken that have been on the restaurant’s menu from the start…
