SHORELINE, Wash. — More than 45 years after Carol Jane Edwards vanished from her Shoreline home, King County detectives say the mystery surrounding her disappearance may come down to a matter of minutes.
Edwards, 25, made it home from work on the afternoon of Jan. 2, 1981, after taking a King County Metro bus from downtown Seattle, where she worked at TV Guide. Detectives say she appeared to begin her normal evening routine before vanishing without a trace.
“We believe she actually got into her residence, set the keys down, grabbed the mail from the front door, set it down, went out to let the dog in, and somewhere in that time period she disappeared,” said King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. James Belford…
