Memorial Day ceremony draws hundreds to Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – More than 350 people gathered today (May 25) at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery for the annual Memorial Day program to pay tribute to those who died in service to their country.

Officials with the cemetery said this year brought one of its largest turnouts, with every seat filled by veterans, loved ones and community members.

“Today, we’ll continue to honor those, not only those that have already passed away, but those that are in hospitals with wounds they may not recover from…those still on the battlefield today,” said Lee Jeter, president of the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery Foundation Board. “We want to make sure they understand we realize the sacrifices they and their families are making, and we want to honor that sacrifice.”…
