South Shreveport, Bossier new express road moves toward approval. Here’s what’s left to do

While still not a completely done deal, the roughly 9-mile long Red River Express project is moving down the road.

Here’s where the proposed private stretch connecting south Shreveport to south Bossier stands now.

Shreveport Council approval on a needed property

At their last meeting in May, the Shreveport City Council approved a 99-year lease on a piece of property necessary for the road. The so-called ‘trapezoid’ is the area just to the south of Flournoy Lucas where an extension to 3132 was originally planned.

That is where the Express, which will be owned and built by private developer Tim James, will begin. The road is envisioned to pay for itself through a toll, but a fee will only be assessed on vehicles crossing the bridge…
