SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Heat-related illness is preventable, according to an LSU Health Shreveport doctor, who says knowing the early warning signs and taking breaks outdoors are key to staying safe.
Staying safe in the heat
LSU Health Shreveport professor Ammar Husan said anyone spending time outside should take precautions.
“Stay in cool places. Stay in places where there’s shade, right? And you have to make sure that you are keeping yourself hydrated,” Husan said.
Heat is the number one cause of death in weather events. This week, feels-like temperatures in the ArkLaTex are expected to climb well above 100 degrees.
