SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Burn bans are now in effect across the ArkLaTex as extreme heat, dry conditions and strong winds create a fire risk in the region, officials said.
What’s triggering the burn bans
Caddo Fire District 4 Chief Joshua Gamble said burn bans are issued after officials evaluate temperatures, humidity levels and the condition of vegetation on the ground.
“Usually in this time of year, when your 90 degree weather and humidity starts dropping down, that’s when it becomes a real big concern for us,” Gamble said.
