Mississippi man held on $1.5 million bond for child molestation

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A 72-year-old Mississippi man is being held on a $1.5 million bond after Bossier Parish authorities arrested him on multiple charges involving the sexual abuse of children.

Ara Thompson Jr., of Tupelo, Mississippi, was taken into custody on July 30 following an investigation that began when detectives received statements from juvenile victims regarding alleged sexual offenses, according to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Thompson faces four counts of molestation of a juvenile under 13, one count of indecent behavior with juveniles and one count of first-degree rape. He was transported to the Bossier Maximum-Security Facility, where he remains in custody.
