SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a former controller accused of stealing nearly $140,000 from Custom Built Cabinet & Supply through unauthorized credit card transactions over 14 months, according to the Shreveport Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit.
Brett Burdges, who has served as controller for Custom Built Cabinet & Supply since 2021, is wanted on one count of access device fraud following an investigation into the alleged theft of $139,487.74, according to police. Burdges oversaw accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchases, and the company’s balance sheet as controller.
The investigation began in August 2026 when American Express contacted a company owner regarding suspected fraudulent charges on a business account. An internal review revealed numerous unauthorized transactions allegedly made by Burdges on an American Express Blue Card issued to him for business purposes, with unauthorized activity dating back to June 2025, according to investigators…
