Once upon a time, my friends and I would depart the high school grounds and drive directly to this popular frozen yogurt shop on Kings Hwy. in Shreveport to order what we called a “Humphrey.”
Counter Culture Frozen Yogurt restaurant’s tagline is “Home of the Humphrey Yogart” – a play on the name of actor Humphrey Bogart. I must admit that was totally lost on me. But it is one of my favorite Shreveport specialties.
A Humphrey Yogart is a tangy, plain frozen yogurt topped with three varieties of fresh fruit (usually strawberries, bananas and grapes), honey and granola. In high school, I would add chocolate chips, which I’m pretty sure were actually the healthier alternative carob chips, but I ate it anyway…
