The Give for Good initiative, presented by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana (CFNLA), has become a cornerstone of the philanthropic landscape in the Shreveport-Bossier City area. Since its inception in 2014, this 24-hour online giving challenge has raised over $22 million for local organizations, proving that collective community action can create a profound, lasting impact.
Sustaining Vital Local Services
For the 247 participating nonprofits in North Louisiana, Give for Good is more than just a fundraising day; it is an essential lifeline. These organizations—ranging from healthcare and education to animal welfare and the arts—rely on the funds raised to provide the “unrestricted” support that traditional grants often lack.
This flexibility allows nonprofits to cover critical operational costs, such as electricity and staff salaries, or to pivot quickly to meet emerging community needs. In 2024 alone, the event raised $2.94 million, providing a massive influx of capital that stays within the local economy to help our neighbors.
The Power of the Lagniappe Fund
What makes Give for Good uniquely vital is the Lagniappe Fund. This pool of bonus dollars, secured by the Community Foundation through corporate sponsors and generous donors, is used to amplify every individual gift.
By providing a pro-rata match, the Lagniappe Fund ensures that a donor’s contribution—whether $10 or $10,000—goes further than it would on any other day of the year. This “little something extra” incentivizes community participation and maximizes the ROI for every nonprofit involved.
Fostering a Culture of Philanthropy
Beyond the dollars, Give for Good serves as a powerful awareness tool. It provides a centralized platform for residents to discover new causes and engage with the vital work being done in their own backyard.

It democratizes philanthropy, showing that when thousands of citizens pull together, they can significantly enhance the quality of life for everyone in North Louisiana.
